Description

watercolour, white gel pen

"Human trafficking is the removal, recruitment, harbouring or transfer of persons from their homes via coercion, deception or abduction for the purposes of slavery, bonded labour, prostitution and other forced labour. Each and every year, it is estimated that over 4 million people fall victim to trafficking operations – 270,000 of whom are trafficked into industrialised countries like Australia and the United States. While this practice extends into every corner of the globe, the Asia-Pacific region accounts for approximately 56% of all trafficking transactions worldwide. What’s more, some 80% of all trafficking transactions are conducted by someone who is known to the family or household." [link]

This piece is for a competition being run by Artists for Human Rights and Action ([link]), the brief was to interpret and express articles 3 and/or 4 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with specific reference to the issue of Human Trafficking (article 3 – Right to Life, Liberty and Personal Security, article 4 – Freedom from Slavery)

I would really really love some feedback - give me your best critique! I've probably got time to do one more entry before the competition closes...

A very emotional thing, well to me at least. It looks wonderful although I still have some to say about the piece itself. It isn't much.
-I am slightly confused with the knees, maybe there could have been an indication of kneeling present, just so it wouldn't look like she was stilt-legged.
-I would love shadows on it, but that's only my opinion, others may not think so.
Now, uncommon in my case, but I want to tell you that this is a very meaningful picture to me. I love the way you colored the clothing and gave it a very beautiful pattern. The picture doesn't have a very sad feel, but a more realizing aura to it. Overall I love it, definitely a bit of patience was put into this well mastered drawing.
